Crimson Desert | How to catch fish

A lovely day for a spot of fishing.
Crimson Desert | How to catch fish

There are so many things to catch or harvest in Crimson Desert, from picking flowers and growing your own food (in the late game, that is) to hunting deer, sniping birds, and of course, angling. There are two ways to catch fish in Pywel, one simple but frustrating, one easy and badass. Read on to find out how to fish in Crimson Desert.

The First method involves getting a rod. The game will provide you with one early on and then it’ll be equipped in the now slot on your weapon wheel. If you ever need another, you can buy one from the general store in Hernand or later find a crafting book so you can get Turnali in the city or Alec at your camp to make them for you.

Using the rod is identical to fishing in Monster Hunter Wilds. Cast the line in the water, wait for a bite, and then wrestle with the scaly little sod, pulling left when it goes right and vice versa. Avoid rocks or you’ll snap the line, and only reel it in when it goes still, as that means it’s tired and won’t fight for a moment. This method can be a little hit and miss and takes some time. Sadly, it seems the only way to catch certain creatures.

The other method is simpler if you just want something to cook. Simply wade into the water where there’s a shoal of fish, and catch one like you’re catching butterflies, in Kliff’s big manly hands. Much easier, though I haven’t seen any rare or special fish this way, but that could be my luck.
