Mewgenics, the “endless Cat Breeding RPG” from the creators of some incredible games, has had a massive gameplay video released.
While the world is talking about Hollow Knight: Silksong, Mewgenics is… well, it’s my Silksong. I am a long-time fan of McMillen’s work (Super Meat Boy, The End is Nigh, The Binding of Isaac), and was announced quite some time ago, but the game is nearing completion now. McMillen says via Reddit: “The most common responce to our mewgenics trailer was “but how does the game play!?” well I did a little 50 min video showcasing the first 50 min of the game to explain it!”
McMillen adds: “hope you can kinda see where we are going with this monster, this is one of a series of gameplay videos ill be uploading over the next 5 months till we release feb 10th.”
In the Reddit thread, McMillen answers questions from fans, as well. He confirms that there won’t be a demo, saying: “we dont have time to make a demo that will actually make the best parts of the game shine in the time we have left. its a game you can watch a stream of and instantly know if its for you.. and with steams return policy every game is a demo, in a way”.
He also confirmed “yes console port is in the works (or will be shortly)”, which is nice to know if you don’t have the option to play the PC version when it comes out.
Elsewhere, McMillen confirms that there’s a lot of game here: “I personally have a save with 180+ hours, closing in at the end.. and every new run I do I find something new I never realized existed when it comes to how things interact. It’s all very modular and the systems are so solid things just work how you would expect.. its pretty damn neat.”
Mewgenics is coming to PC via Steam on February 10th.
