With many believing the Remothered series was dead and buried, I can feel the fan’s collective mind being blown right now. Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy is the third entry in the series. That’s right, you’re not seeing things. Remothered 3 is happening, and we got to hear it straight from the horse’s mouth. Stormwind Games is hard at work bringing a brand new game in the series to life, and from what we saw, it’s looking pretty good so far.
Stormwind is the team behind the first two titles, as well as other games such as A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead and Mafia: The Old Country (co-developed with Hangar 13). The studio is passionate about intense survival horror, and the Remothered series is all about intense physical emotion. With Remothered 3, Stormwind is writing a new chapter in the story. It’s clear the developers are passionate about the series, and it’s great that fans are finally going to see what’s next.

The story take place twenty years after the first Remothered. You play as Susan, a mother searching for her daughter Agata, who mysteriously disappeared over a year ago. A new lead brings Susan to an abandoned villa on Mount Etna, in Sicily, where she believes Agata may be alive. This is where her nightmare begins.
While you’ll be able to see the announcement trailer, we also got to see a slice of gameplay. Those familiar puzzles influenced by classic survival horror titles like Resident Evil and Silent Hill return. In the footage, we saw Susan wandering tentatively around a monastery or mansion. Followers of the Red Nun haunted the hallways and rooms. Susan was able to hide under beds and hold her breath to avoid detection as well as sneaking around.

There are also a couple of new additions to gameplay. For the first time, weapons can be used against enemies. They don’t appear to do much damage, but will likely help to stop the Red Nunu’s followers for a short while. Not only that, Susan falls under the spell of hypnosis. This allows her to look into mirrors and reveal hidden doorways and objects that don’t appear when looking at her surroundings normally.
Players will finally get to explore the origins of the Red Nun in Remothered 3. It looks utterly terrifying. Stormwind said they couldn’t accept seeing the Remothered series fade away. They believe they owe it to the community, and from what we saw, they’re fully behind this belief. The chapter will close the story, but also be enjoyable to those who haven’t played the previous games. Stormwind are carefully considering every aspect of the gameplay, visuals, and story to make sure it makes long-time and new fans happy.
