Indie studio Dusty Box has unveiled its debut title, a survival horror adventure called Cult of Blood, and dropped an announcement trailer to showcase it.
The team says that Cult of Blood “drops players into a hidden village ruled by a blood cult, where every step drags you closer to survival, or to becoming the final sacrifice in a priestess’s ritual to ascend as a goddess”.
Dusty Box says of the trailer, it “teases fog-drenched streets, candlelit chambers and swampy ruins, blending cinematic cutscenes with desperate melee, scarce bullets and tense resource management”, adding that: “With fixed camera angles, classic-inspired tank controls and modern refinements for aiming and dodging, Cult of Blood evokes the dread of Resident Evil while twisting it with its own ritualistic horrors.”
“With Cult of Blood, we wanted to revive the suffocating tension of classic survival horror, where every corner hides danger and every decision could be your last,” said Angelo Axiotis, co-founder of Dusty Box. “This isn’t just a fight for survival, it’s a descent into a nightmare where you’re the key to a cult’s dark ascension.”
At its core, Cult of Blood is about tension and choice. Ammunition is limited but not absent, healing is rare and every encounter could be your last. Players will face grotesque enemies, scavenge resources and collect blood souls to upgrade weapons or acquire new gear. Each step through the hidden village deepens the nightmare, culminating in a climactic showdown against the cult’s queen.
The story follows a police officer sent to investigate unsettling reports, uncovering a village seemingly frozen in time and cut off from the outside world. What begins as routine quickly spirals into horror as a cult devoted to a priestess, who seeks to ascend as a goddess, ensnares him. The villagers are not vampires, but humans stripped of their souls and enslaved to the cult’s will. Inspired by a true story but reimagined with supernatural horror, the narrative explores the eternal fight between light and darkness, good and evil, forcing players to decide whether to destroy the cult and its queen, or succumb to its ritual.
