Solo developer Oren Koren has launched a demo for new game Don’t Lose Aggro, which seems like a MMO game, but designed for roguelite solo players.
The developer says that the demo offers players a chance to “command chaos, master aggro management, and enjoy a nostalgic MMO-inspired experience without multiplayer pressures”, which I know might sound niche, but lots of people enjoy the MMO-style of gameplay, without wanting to be social. The Xenoblade Chronicles series proves it’s a genre people are interested in, really.
“Don’t Lose Aggro was born from my passion for MMORPG tanking gameplay and my desire to create an accessible, solo experience that stays true to those mechanics,” said Game Creator, Oren Koren. “I aimed to capture the feel of MMO group dynamics and raid challenges, but crafted specifically for solo play, free from guild drama and heavy time investments.”
As you can see from the trailer, there’s a lot going on. The demo is live now, and the developer says: “In Don’t Lose Aggro, you step into the armored boots of an MMO tank, protecting your companions through tactical and challenging battles. Perfect your aggro management skills, strategically control enemy positioning, and tailor unique builds that reflect classic MMO tank archetypes like the agile Dodger, sturdy Blocker, resourceful Kiter, or commanding Taunter.”
Here’s the key gameplay features, too:
- Solo Tank Gameplay: Master the complexity and excitement of MMO tanking roles in a single-player setting, managing chaos and enemy aggression to protect your companions.
- Dynamic Abilities: Use a variety of offensive, defensive, and utility skills to control the flow of battle. from gap-closing Charges to enemy-pulling Hooks.
- Unique Tank Builds: Experiment and craft diverse tank builds reminiscent of classic MMO tanking styles, enhancing replayability and strategic depth.
- Strategic Roguelite Progression: Earn talent points between runs to build long-lasting upgrades that reflect your preferred playstyle.
Don’t Lose Aggro is coming to PC via Steam “soon”, and the demo is out now.
