EA has announced the opening batch of Icons for EA Sports FC 26, which the team says includes the “most fan-requested Icons to date”.
Seven of the Twelve have recently retired, and some of the Icons have apparently inspired the new Archetypes that will be prevalent in Clubs in FC 26.
As suspected, Alex Morgan is indeed one of the Icons for FC 26. “I’m excited to be able to further my legacy in FC 26 as an ICON,” said USWNT legend, Alex Morgan. “To be recognized among the game’s ICONs is an honour, and I hope to continue inspiring the next generation of players who dream of leaving their mark on the field.”
Of course, Zlatan as the cover star, is also an Icon. “No matter what they say, Zlatan is back” said FC 26 Ultimate Edition cover athlete, Zlatan Ibrahimović. “For the fans who always believed in me, you can now play as Zlatan, as an ICON, the way it was meant to be.”

Back to the Clubs and Archetypes, then, EA says: ” Each of the new Archetypes will come with their set of unique characteristics, and a new customization experience giving fans more control over how they develop their Pro.”

If you pre-order the game before August 26th you’ll get 1 debut Icon (you can’t trade them, though) from a roster of 15, which includes the new class of 26 Icons.
- Debut ICONs available from September 19 will recognize an early moment in their career when they demonstrated their potential of being a generational talent.
- Champion ICONs available from November, will commemorate an iconic moment when the player earned major silverware during their career and cementing their ICON status.

EA Sports FC 26 is coming to PlayStation 5, PS4, Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2 on September 26th.
