Modoyo has announced the first global playtest for hero shooter Heart Electric will be coming to PC between October 24th and October 26th.

One of the core things about Heart Electric is the “Magnetic Flux” system. This is a “game-changing power that enables players to traverse the battlefield at high speed, manipulating metal objects and triggering electromagnetic effects, fostering both freedom of movement and the ability to devise innovative strategies to maintain a tactical advantage”, explains the team.

The developer adds that after feedback from previous playtests, this Magnetic Flux has been enabled while in the air, meaning the movement can be combined with the combat skills as well. It’s worth keeping an eye on this one, we think, as the developer (Modoyo) includes an ex-DICE senior development team member in the form of Niklas Figge Fegraeus, so there’s some pedigree involved here. Check out the trailer, and see for yourself.

“Heart Electric is a true indie passion project designed by players and shaped by our community,” said Niklas “Figge” Fegraeus, Creative Director of Modoyo. “We’re inviting hero shooter fans worldwide to join us and experience something unique and innovative. The Magnetic Flux changes the landscape and offers levels of gameplay that will surprise even hardcore FPS fans, giving players new ways to outsmart opponents and have an incredible amount of fun doing it.”

Heart Electric offers a fresh take on the hero FPS genre, delivering fast-paced multi-team action. Four teams, armed with unique weapons and perks, must eliminate their opposition by depleting their energy while ensuring they keep enough of their own. Use the Hearts to steal Energy from other teams’ bases, knowing they could set a magnetic trap, lure you into an ambush, or attract the attention of another team.

Killing opponents and having them respawn saps their Energy reserves until it’s down to the final two teams. From there, each player receives an energy overload as the dome drops and the arena starts to shrink. It’s now a race against time in a kill-or-be-killed, winner-takes-all showdown.

The playtest will let people get hold of the game with “multiple playable heroes”, lots of the “primary weapons”, and even some leaderboards to you can see how you rank in the competitive side of things.

Heart Electric is coming to PC via Steam.
