Curveball Games has announced the Steam PC release date for previously mobile-only Kevin Toms Football Star Manager, and it’s coming pretty soon.
Timed to start when the new Premier League season kicks off (Isak… will he, won’t he?) Kevin Toms Football Star Manager is hitting PC on August 14th. The game has a delicious old school flavour to it, and the announcement trailer plays on this, that’s for sure. “Forget about your graphics card, and say goodbye to your family”, the trailer jokingly says.

If you are old enough, you might remember (like me) Kevin Toms fondly from the 1982 Football Manager. Here’s the key features:
- Classic simplicity with subtle depth: manage your club across four divisions, with promotion, relegation, domestic cups, and European cup competitions. There’s a transfer market, tactics to set, player fitness-wise decisions, and club finances to balance — all designed to be quick to learn but hard to put down.
- Match highlights: stylised, text and graphic match highlights reminiscent of the original 8-bit title. It’s charming, easy to follow, and still engaging.
- Customisation & roster controls: rename teams, edit kits, or retitle players. Player ratings consist of skill, fitness, and age. Aged out players retire or decline, while younger talent can improve season by season.
- Strategic decisions: purchase loans to fund signings, manage morale boosts (twice per season to lift spirit), bid on players with risk/reward valuation, and navigate transfer valuations that fluctuate with division status.
The Steam version is the first time the game has come to non mobile devices, and the publisher says “the move to Steam has allowed Kevin to make meaningful quality of life improvements to ensure gameplay is fast, satisfying, and customisable.” The publisher adds: “If you’re after a fast, nostalgic, football management fix with bite-sized tension and strategy — then this is the football management sim for you!”.
