Wrecking havoc on Kairos in Borderlands 4 are four new Vault Hunters (it’s in keeping with franchise tradition to drop four new characters per launch) and publisher 2K and developer Gearbox Software have shared a Gameplay Overview and detailed Character Short for the first new Vault Hunter in this edition: Vex the Siren.
The Borderlands series is famous for its badass protagonists, and there’s always at least one Siren (despite the fact that they’re super rare in the lore, natch), and Borderlands 4 is no exception. It’s understandable, too, since previous Sirens Lilith, Amara, and Maya proved incredibly popular in the past, offering devastating magical attacks and essential buffs.
Check out the trailers below to see new Siren Vex in action, and get a feel for what she’ll be like to play in Borderlands 4.
In this gameplay overview, witness Vex’s Phase energy firsthand. It’s nothing short of destructive and immediately gives players a feel for Vex’s character. Vex is either smearing enemy guts on the walls with her elemental orbs or conjuring up an evil army of aggressive Phase Clones, or having her cute but deadly Phase Phamiliar, Trouble, rip enemies to pieces.
Additionally, Vex’s new character short “Purple Friday” – ironic because Fridays are supposed to be chill and Vex is not chill! The character short features Vex herself recounting the massacres that took place that helped her become a Vault Hunter and how she came to obtain such strong and calamitous powers.
Borderlands 4 will launch worldwide on September 12th on Playstation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam and the Epic Games store. It is available for pre-order now. Additionally, it will be arriving on Nintendo Switch 2 later in 2025.
