Following the recent gameplay reveal trailer for Cronos: The New Dawn, Bloober Team has now released a developer diary taking a deeper dive into the games combat systems.
This upcoming horror game features enemies called Orphans that can merge with each other, altering the dynamic of each encounter and ensuring you always need to think on your feet. Every enemy you kill can be fuel for others to merge with, grow stronger and become more deadly, adding a strategic edge to combat.
Jacek Zięba (Game Director) and Shamil Yanbukhtin (Lead Combat Designer) take us through how the combat works, including how you’ll need to master the flow of battle and prevent enemies merging in the first place. Being smart with the positioning of your kills and choosing the right weapon for the job will be key here.
You’ll also learn about the different types of Orphan that’ll be hunting you, including the melee-focused Runners, heavy-hitting Bruisers and more. They’re all capable of merging with each other too so if you’re not careful then encounters will quickly get tougher.
