New Screamer gameplay in developer video

Follow the leader

Milestone has shown a closer look at Screamer in a new developer video interview.

The video, featuring Game Director Federico Cardini and Milestone Development & Creative Director Michele Caletti, explores the vision and gameplay mechanics that Screamer is bringing to the arcade genre to set itself apart from the rest.

One of the game’s central innovations, the Twin Stick control system, enables steering and drifting independently. For coordinated players this means performing precise turns with one stick and sick drifts with the other, giving you complete control of your car.

As explained in the video, at the heart of Screamer are teams of three characters, each featuring a leader supported by two members. While members’ cars focus more on fighting, leaders’ cars are designed for maximum speed and performance, so there are two distinct methods of play on offer here, especially with 15 different cars to choose from, each with their own benefits.

The characters’ skills are rooted in the Echo System. Installed on every vehicle, this technology fuels both racing and fighting mechanics through two types of resources: Sync and Entropy. Once built, Sync can be used to boost and shield, while Entropy powers two fighting actions called Strike and Overdrive. As a major plot and gameplay element, the Echo System will be explored in more detail in the upcoming second part of the interview.

Screamer is due to release in 2026 and will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
