Microsoft has announced the pricing details of the upcoming handheld collaboration with Asus, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X.

While these days it’s hard to ever say something is “reasonably priced”, considering what you’re getting with the ROG Xbox Ally, the prices do actually come in under what many may have expected.

Launching on October 16th, you can pre-order them now (from the Microsoft Store, UK Xbox Store, ASUS eshop, and other retailers0, and the prices are as follows

  • ROG Xbox Ally  – £499
  • ROG Xbox Ally X – £799

If you don’t own a handheld PC, the standard version (£499) is a great way to get into things. I’ve used a Rog Ally extensively and they’re lovely, comfortable devices that rival the Steam Deck, with both positives and negatives against Valve’s ubiquitous handheld.

That said, given the storage and ram increase for the ROG Xbox Ally X (24GB of RAM vs 16GB, and 1TB storage vs 512GB), if you can stretch to the X model, we reckon you’ll be pretty happy.

Xbox says regarding the devices: “They combine the best of ASUS hardware, the flexibility of Windows, and an approachable Xbox experience, so your games, friends, and progress are always within reach.”

One of the biggest things about this new ROG Ally is that it’s got the “Xbox full screen experience”, which lets you “Launch directly into the Xbox full screen experience, a dedicated experience purpose-built for gaming, powered by Windows 11, and inspired by the console user experience. With new modifications that minimize background activity and defer non-essential tasks, more system resources are dedicated specifically to gameplay.”

Moreover, it has “A dedicated Xbox button opens an enhanced Game Bar overlay for Windows 11, making it easy to return home, browse your library, launch or quit games, chat with friends, access ROG’s innovative Armoury Crate SE, and more.”

It’s also worth noting that each of the Xbox Ally models comes with three months of Xbox Game Pass, so you’re going to be starting off with a massive library, including the likes of Silksong, etc.

ROG Xbox Ally is set for release on October 16th.
