The long running and much loved dueling platform has an exciting new mode, as Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links adds Character Deck Duel. This new PvP mode allows you to play with the decks of various beloved anime characters, created so you’ll play just like your favourites. I know I’ll be jumping into Duel Links when I get home tonight, and immediately doing my best Joey Wheeler impression.
“Duel against each other using Character Decks, designed with the primary goal of allowing Duelists to Duel in a way that reflects the Duel-style of each character and can also be used in both PvP and PvE modes. These new Decks come with fixed Skills and cards that represent the specific character.
A Character Deck gives Duelists a guided introduction to each character’s signature playstyle. Dueling in this mode allows Duelists to earn Respect Orbs, a special reward item that is based on their performance rating and can be exchanged at the Trader for cards and various items. Duelists can trade in Respect Orbs for a Grade Star which increases the Grade of a Character Deck. Increasing the Deck’s Grade allows Duelists to replace up to a maximum of five cards based on the Deck’s Grade.”
I still maintain that one of the best ways to get into Yu-Gi-Oh as an absent fan is through Duel Links, as its somewhat simplified and much quicker duels really lend themselves to learning all the new systems. With a few weeks of dedication you might even be ready to jump into Master Duel, which is beloved by duelists around the world.
