During Saturday Night’s Main Event, 2K revealed the ‘Monday Night Wars’ Edition for WWE 2K26. The previous day, the ‘Attitude Era’ Edition was also shown off. Although little is known about what this means for the newest entry in the series, it’s not a long shot to say the 2K Showcase mode will feature one of the most important times in the company’s history.
An exiting time to be a wrestling fan
The late 90s saw WCW finally reach a time in their life when they rivalled WWE. Competing for the best ratings became a staple for both companies. This meant they both tried to beat the competition with new and exciting storylines. WWE had D-Generation X and the Attitude Era, where stars like ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, The Rock, HHH, and The Undertaker the roster with a more adult-themed product. WCW on the other hand had arguably the biggest faction in the history of professional wrestling, the nWo, make every Monday night worth tuning in for.
Despite not knowing who was going to come out on top, WCW’s product started to get stale, and the WWE eventually bought out the competition in one of the most insane moments on Monday Night RAW where Shane McMahon publicly ‘bought’ the company on live television.
Over the coming weeks we’ll find out more from 2K. What can we expect from WWE 2K26? Time will tell, but it’s exciting. For now, though, players can get hyped for what they think might be a part of the upcoming release; which superstars are going to be included; how existing modes will be improved; and what new features will come with it.
2K has said a new cover will be revealed on this Tuesday. Not only that, a full reveal is coming on January 30. This will likely mean players will find answers to all their questions soon.
