Sega has fully announced Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds at the latest State of Play, and it looks like another superb entry into the racing-series.
As you’d expect, it features a twist like the previous titles, and will obviously include lots of characters from Sonic titles, as well as the wider Sega universe. Check out the new trailer:
Aside the trailer, we don’t know a huge amount more, but there’s some more details in the blurb from the latest press release:
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds brings back courses that include land, air, and sea terrain as well as the never-before seen Travel Rings feature that affects the race in real time by transporting racers to all new CrossWorlds during the race. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds also offers the largest roster of characters in any Sonic racing game, as well as a wide variety of customizable vehicles. Players can mix and match vehicle parts, powers, and abilities to create a customized racing experience suited to their gameplay style.
It all sounds pretty great so far, right? The official site confirms a closed network test is coming, too (which you can apply to test, here), and will run from February 22nd until February 24th (both 8am till 8am SGT). On the site, Sega says: “The goal of the Closed Network Test is to give players the chance to experience online play with World Matches so that we can improve online multiplayer functionality and identify any problems. The game version for the network test is still in development, so crashes and other issues may occur.”
Sega is a busy publisher right now, as it also has Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, which is out at the end of February, but also Two Point Museum, coming in early March.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is “coming soon”, to PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, PS4, and PlayStation 5.
