After years of hoping, prison life fans have something to celebrate. The Escapists 3 is coming in 2027, and it’s now 3D. The Escapists 3 promises all new prison sandboxes to escape from, with a ludicrous number of ways to do so. Whether you want to escape with your friends or on your own, a life behind bars awaits us all next year.
Although the most noticeable change from the previous Escapists games is the evolution into 3D, it’s not just visual updates we should expect from the upcoming threequel. Physics now plays a big part in the game thanks to 3D models replacing pixel art, and this will be useful for solving specific puzzles or finding creative ways to break out. There’s also an XP system where you level up your custom prisoner across multiple prisons, allowing for growth and improvements that suit your specific play style.

Escaping from prison is no mean feat and inmates will need to craft, sneak, fight, and improvise their way through five distinct prisons as they plan their perfect escape…and then execute a much less perfect one when it all goes wrong. With more than 120 new weapons to steal and craft, guard rotations to observe and learn, and systems waiting to be exploited for maximum gain, there is no single solution for each escape, just good plans, bad plans, and the occasional plan involving molten chocolate.”

Coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 next year, everything I’ve seen of The Escapists 3 looks really promising. I’m ready to get locked up and cause some mayhem in 2027, and I suppose I’ll also play this video game.
