Planet Coaster 2 has always offered unmatched creativity to build your own amusement park. Watching all your hard work pay off is something Frontier gets right all the time. If you’re after something a little different, the newest expansion is exactly what you need. Rooted in fantasy and spookiness, the Sorcery Pack coming to Planet Coaster 2 is filled with wizards, giant spiders, gargoyles, and more. Not only that, but the newest rides look amazing, with some cool additions that mix up how the rollercoasters work.
I got to watch a presentation of everything that’s coming as part of the Sorcery Pack in Planet Coaster 2. It felt like a trip through a wizarding school. This sprawling park filled with magic. A giant tower stood at the centre, looming over the guests. A mysterious forest surrounding the rides and food stands. It looked so good, and the additions in various new parts help to give off such a cool vibe that allows you to mix up other parts from the base game and previous DLC to make something so unique.

As for the new rides, there are five for players to build and use. Three coasters all offer something unique. The Child Coaster is a simple track that will draw in families with its simplistic design. The Bike and Sidecar Coaster is fast, with great acceleration for two people to sit side-by-side. It was the first coaster I saw that implemented the new Switch Track mechanic. This switch track allows you to implement a change in track and change the path of the coaster quickly. The third coaster, called Curse of the Forest, was perhaps the most exhilarating.
Watching the coaster move forward to the tip of a large drop, only to move backwards through a cavern filled with multi-coloured crystals, an animatronic spider, and a war between rival wizards. Then, after gaining distance, it zips forward at breakneck speed and lands that huge drop, sending your customers on one hell of a ride. While the engineering on all three coasters is exquisite, this particular Outermax showed off the heart of the Sorcery Pack, pushing the assets and mechanisms of what’s available to the limit.

Two other rides make up the Sorcery Pack. The Galeforce is a gigantic pendulum that sees visitors flying through the air like a pirate ship. It stands tall and provides a great view of the park when viewing as one of the riders. Finally, the Flying Theatre is a motion cinema that lets guests feel al the excitement of magic and mystery without leaving their seats. A lot of effort has been put in to making sure these rides stand out from everything else, and I can’t wait to dive in and see how I implement them in my own park.
There are tons of assets to use in the Sorcery Pack. It’s amazing what can be done with them. The candlelit pathways across the park. The eating area filled with stylised benches and food stands. There’s even a wizard wandering around the park to bring cosplay to the masses, offering an added level of authenticity and wonder. Seeing what combinations are possible and how creative minds are going to thrive is exciting. It’s spooky and fantastical, and the realms of possibility are endless.
Planet Coaster 2: Sorcery Pack is available September 16 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
