With the recent release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, we thought we would take a look at the 10 coolest assassins in the entire series. This isn’t a list about the most powerful or the most successful, but about the assassins we connected with the most. There have been some we just don’t gel with, and some that, despite being exceptional at their craft, do little to make us like them. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the 10 coolest assassins in Assassin’s Creed.
10. Adéwalé
First up is the assassin that served alongside Edward Kenway in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. He was much sterner and more serious that many of the others in the list, but his emergence and purpose for becoming an Assassin is admirable. He also looked the part, and despite his demise at the hands of Shay Cormac (boo!), he deserves to be on the list.
9. Jacob Frye
While Jacob didn’t fit the typical mould, he looked cool as hell. Appearing in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate alongside his sister, Jacob was a key figure in eradicating the Templars from London. With his top hat and penchant for violence, he chose less to stalk from the shadows in favour of a good old-fashioned fist fight.
8. Evie Frye
Evie Frye was always a better assassin than her brother. She was easy to love, and embodied the Creed much more than her brother did, and was much swifter and quieter when it came to dispatching her enemies. She looked cool as well, and anyone capable of taking down Jack the Ripper is amazing in my eyes.
7. Naoe
While new to the franchise, Naoe is easily one of the best assassins the series has seen. Her efficiency with various weapons is admirable, and watching her slice the throats of her enemies in such a stylish fashion never gets old. She is stylish, effective, and easily one of the coolest assassins to take on the enemy so far.
6. Connor Kenway
Although Assassin’s Creed 3 often gets overlooked, Connor is one of the best to ever do it. His father was Haytham Kenway, an important Templar figure in the series, but despite that, Connor stuck to his beliefs. He endured personal tragedies but never lost his way, and anyone that can do what he did is considered a badass in my eyes.
5. Kassandra
A strong woman in her own right, Kassandra became one of the most likeable characters in the franchise. Odyssey is considered one of the best titles in the more modern run of Assassin’s Creed titles, and she proved that she will do whatever needs to be done in the face of evil. She also looked amazing, and single-handedly wiped out the Cult of Kosmos with her incredible skills in battle.
4. Bayek of Siwa
The founder of the Hidden Ones, Bayek is easily one of the best Assassins. He’s quickness and brutality made for an engaging story with Origins. Alongside his wife Aya, he managed to avenge the death of his son, and along the way dismantling the Order of the Ancients in ancient Egypt.
3. Altaïr ibn-La’Ahad
While a bit of a maverick, Altaïr ended up becoming one of the coolest assassins. He was a no-nonsense menace that slowly began to embrace the Brotherhood. He lived in the shadows and killed without hesitation, donning the iconic white cloak in his mission to end the Templar reign.
2. Edward Kenway
It was a toss-up as to who went first, but regardless, Edward Kenway is easily one of the most likeable and relatable assassins. Black Flag is considered by many as the best game in the series, and that’s large in part to Edward. Who doesn’t love a pirate? However, it was his wit and charm, along with his pirate-themed attire that made us fall in love with him.
1. Ezio Auditore
This probably comes at no surprise, but Ezio is a such a badass. Coming from the golden age of the Brotherhood, Ezio went through so much when we first met him. After witnessing his father and two brothers murdered, he began an uprising against the templars, all while looking cool as hell. He’s a likeable guy, and such a well-written character.
