Fans of Swery and Suda51 will be pleased to learn that their latest fever dream, Hotel Barcelona, is due to arrive in September 2025.
This action roguelite stars Justine, a fresh-faced federal marshal who wakes up with the unfortunate combination of a a serial killer in her head and a blade in her hand. Trapped in a twisted haunted hotel, she’ll need to fight her way through hordes of enemies, die countless times and defeat the Seven Slasher Killers. Check out the trailer from Steam Next Fest below.
You’ll also be up against the Slasher Phantoms, an army of the undead who mimc your actions from previous runs. Keep the carnage up and you’ll be rewarded with the power of Doctor Carnival, the primeval monster residing in your brain.
If you’re not familiar with Swery or Suda51, they’re the minds behind Deadly Premonition and No More Heroes, respectively (among others). They’re Japanese cult icons and if you’re not familiar with their games then I recommend just taking a look at gameplay on YouTube as, honestly, I don’t think any description I can come up with will do them justice.
Hotel Barcelona lands on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in September 2025.
