MIO: Memories In Orbit release date announced

January is heating up.
Mio Memories in Orbit

Focus Entertainment along with developer Douze Dixiemes have together announced the release date for gorgeous MetroidVania, MIO: Memories In Orbit, and it’s soon.

Announced via a new trailer shown during the PC Gaming Show (which you can catch below), the game is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Xbox Series X|S on January 20th, 2026, adding to an already fairly busy month to kick things off in 2026.

Pre-orders are open now on PC, PS5, and Xbox, and there’s a 10% discount for you if you decide to do that. There’s also a demo available on Steam if you fancy giving it a try before you commit, which will take you 2-3 hours to get through.

Come January 20, players will uncover it all as MIO, a nimble robot who awakens alone aboard the Vessel—a vast, drifting spaceship left in ruin. Once maintained by AI caretakers known as the Pearls, the Vessel is now overrun by wild vegetation and malfunctioning machines. With the ship facing imminent shutdown, MIO must explore its labyrinthine depths, recover its lost memories, and uncover the truth behind the collapse.

We played MIO: Memories in Orbit a while back for preview, and said: “When Mio: Memories in Orbit releases, I will 100% be back to explore the Vessel and uncover whatever secrets lie in wait. The gameplay is satisfying and the combat is weighty. Movement is fluid and reactive. While there are plenty of things to discover and things to unlock, it is the art style that makes it standout. I love how gorgeous it looks. Finding new areas and uncovering the mysteries of what happened kept me playing. I can’t imagine what the final game will be like whenever release day comes.”.

MIO: Memories In Orbit launches on January 20th, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
