Techland are counting down the days until Dying Light: The Beast launches with a series of videos and devblogs highlighting the evolution of Kyle Crane and the development of the game.
This first entry, titled “Torture & Suffering”, is a dark look at Crane’s time as The Baron’s captor and we get another quick glimpse at the beast he’s become.
The accompanying Devblog takes a deeper look at how the team brought Kyle Crane back and evolved him from the hero of Harran to his new, darker form. It’s an interesting read, covering artistic direction, the duality of his character and the mechanical changes that are all in play to convey his transition to beast.
For example, as it’s a first person perspective game it’s not always easy to show changes to the player character, so Techland had to put extra care and attention into his arms and hands as these are regularly visible to the player. Black veins and bulging muscles appear during his Beast Mode to show his dark and menacing aura.
Check out the full Devblog and find out more about Kyle Crane 2.0.
Dying Light: The Beast is releasing on 19 September for PC, Xbox and Playstation.
