NetEase Games has announced that a demo for upcoming action-platformer Rusty Rabbit has been released for PC, Switch, and on PlayStation.
The demo contains around an hour (or slightly less) of gameplay. It also lets you carry across your progress should you decide to grab the game when it comes to those same platforms on April 17th. It’s described as a “2.5D action side scroller”, but there’s definitely MetroidVania vibes in there as well, with new powers coming thick and fast.
Interestingly, the game is developed by NITRO PLUS, a studio normally known for Visual Novels. NetEase says: “Written by Gen Urobuchi, creator of famous anime series such as Puella Magi Madoka Magica and PSYCHO-PASS, the demo offers players an extensive first look at the “smash and dash” gameplay featuring rabbit hero Stamp. Players’ progress in the demo will carry over to the full game, which is set to release on April 17th, 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam).”
The publisher adds: “In the trial version released today, players can expect a well-rounded test experience, containing the introductory part of the full game and story.”
This civilization of highly evolved of rabbits took to the task of reclaiming human technology in the ruins known as “Smokestack Mountain”. This fluffy society has long referred to humans as “giants” from the past and think the book Peter Rabbit is the Bible. Those fearless enough to explore this vast unknown are called “rust diggers.” Our protagonist, an old rabbit named Stamp, is one such rust digger, making his living by excavating and exploring for a profit.
One day, on his way back from an excavation under Smokestack Mountain, our hero- a rabbit called Stamp, encounters a rust digging team known as the “BBs” and joins them in a quest to delve deeper into the mysterious riches of Smokestack Mountain.
Along the way he discovers information about his estranged daughter, hinting at her peril and revealing hidden truths about the world he once believed in.
Rusty Rabbit is coming to PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on April 17th.
