Ghost Ship Publishing and Northplay have unveiled the gameplay trailer for the ‘hack’n’strat’ genre hybrid game, Dinolords.
Showing an in-depth look at game footage for the very first time, the trailer highlights roaring dinosaur mechanics, dino-mite RTS integrations, and meteoric refinements since the game’s reveal in 2023.
Mixing real-time strategy with action RPG gameplay, Dinolords brings the Jurassic era to the Middle Ages in a time warp of genres, where the discovery of ancient eggs has led to training dinosaurs for battle. With the looming threat of war, players must tame these creatures and prepare them for real-time combat, leading them into conflict alongside an ever-growing army.
The gameplay trailer shows fans the most up-to-date gameplay footage and highlights the lord’s in-game activities, such as:
- Take to the Front: The lord is more than just a passive protagonist in the game, but instead an active, controllable figure in combat. The trailer shows the lord fighting among their troops, evading, blocking, and striking with impactful ranged and melee combat.
- Command from Above: Dinolords injects narrative into traditional RTS gameplay. Thanks to the trusty Dimorphodon, lords can scout the battlefield, manage city-building, and oversee the entire stronghold directly from dino-back.
- Prehistoric Economics: Beyond their power in battle, these prehistoric beasts serve as the settlement’s nurturing backbone. Docile giants like the Triceratops and Jobaria help to gather resources, construct buildings, and increase productivity across the growing domain.
Michael Flarup, CEO of Northplay, said:
“We’ve worked tirelessly to forge this new genre hybrid and bring it to the best possible quality for our players. As a long-time strategy enthusiast, I’m excited to shake things up and show people how inventive these games can get – and genuinely integrate fun themes with tangible purpose. The gameplay trailer shows how far we’ve come on this, and we’ll only progress as our closed alphas continue and the community feedback continues to roll in. “
Dinolords is coming to PC, where you can also sign up to the playtest.
