Sunblink and Sanrio have announced that Update 3.0, “Welcome Home,” a massive home decoration update for cosy life sim Hello Kitty Island Adventure, is now available.
From October 9 through 16, any player can try Update 3.0 for free during a free-to-play week on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Plus, coming soon, PC players can invite their friends to try the game’s opening through Friend Pass on PC via Steam.

Whether you’re giving your favorite spaces a cosy refresh, dreaming up imaginative new looks or creating your very own player home, there are more ways than ever to make the island feel uniquely your own.
Game-changing new features like player homes, layout sharing and floorplans come alongside a brand-new storyline in which you can build homes for Sanrio characters.
Key Update 3.0 Features include:
- Player Homes: Build the island getaway of your dreams on Home Island. Progress your home from a simple-one-story to a multi-floor island mansion, customising everything from the roof, facade and landscaping to the interior floorplan.
- Build Cabins for Sanrio Friends: In a new storyline, all of the island’s residents are pitching in to make their perfect homes. For the first time ever in-game, build new abodes for beloved Sanrio characters.
- Cabin Layouts & Kits: Pack up, save and share your cabin layouts and contents. Layout and Kits let you share your cabin designs with other players or easily move them from cabin to cabin.
- Floorplans: It’s a decorator’s dream come true! With Floorplans, add differently shaped rooms to cabins, expanding them with larger and more diverse shapes and sizes.
- Creative Mode Room: Love decorating? Want to try out some new ideas? In this special mode, you can create a cabin layout using almost anything in the game. Save and export that layout to share with friends or generate the list of components to make tracking toward your dream home easier.
- Mailboxes: Check your Home Mailbox for lost items, return gifts, collections from the Nul Collector Box and more. Plus stop by Character Home Mailboxes to enable auto-gifting, which can be unlocked once players are at a certain level of friendship with each of the characters
- Meet Marroncream: Ever cheerful and optimistic, Marroncream is a little rabbit from the suburbs of Paris with a lovely fashion sense and a knack for making delicious sweets and being an expert at handicrafts. With her special designer touch, she’ll support you in transforming your home, and creating homes for other characters. Trés Chic!
Update 3.0 drops alongside “Days of Plenty,” the annual fall-time event. This year, help My Melody, My Sweet Piano, and Lala with their DIY crafts to score new outfits with cosy knitted designs, sewing and crafting-themed furniture and decor, and returning fall-themed rewards from past events.
To celebrate the “Welcome Home” update, Sunblink and Sanrio have ntroduced the Friend Pass for PC via Steam. Beginning today, PC players who own Hello Kitty Island Adventure can invite friends to try the game through Friend Pass, which enables cooperative play and a portion of the game’s early content. Hello Kitty Island Adventure will also be free-to-play for a limited time on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 from October 9 – 16.
Hello Kitty Island Adventure, is now available on Apple Arcade, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
