Game Freak has released patch notes for the latest update in Beast of Reincarnation and along with technical improvements and a new cutscene it adds an unexpected new progression option.
After clearing the mid-game Great Wall Terraces Zone, players can now choose whether to bypass the three subsequent zones (Pilgrim’s Zone, Matsukawa Colony Zone, and Fuji Frontier Zone) or play through them normally.
The idea is that players who want to focus primarily on the story can reach the Capital faster, while giving New Game+ players a quicker route through the game. It’s an unusual move, and while you sometimes see the ability to skip through prologues and other early game areas, I don’t think I’ve seen a game let you skip so much of the mid-to-late game.
Alongside this, V1.1.01 also introduces:
- A new Field of View (FOV) setting in the options menu
- An option to show or hide the cutscene “skip” prompt
- Event and cutscene improvements
- Big fixes and technical improvements
