Hell is Us | How to find and unlock the Blacksmith

In order to add Glyphs to your Lymbic weapons and upgrade your gear in Hell is Us, you’ll need to find Victor the Blacksmith and return him to the village of Jova. Not only is he one of your most valuable allies, he’s also story-critical, so you need to find him to progress. But where is he? Read on to find out where to find the Blacksmith in Hell is Us.

Where is Victor?

Victor is the apprentice to Vitalis, an enigmatic scientist and soldier who fled Jova when the Sabinians took over the village. With ties to the Order of the Vigil, Vitalis is essential to Remi’s quest to find his family, and only Victor knows where he is. You’ll find him by exploring the Acasa Marshes, the vast swampy area surrounding Jova.

If you explore off to the East of the area, you’ll eventually find a traffic tunnel illuminated by red lights. There’s a save point outside and a corpse with a Lymbic Polearm and the Whirlwind Drone Module on it. Head into the tunnel, defeating the mass of Hollow Walkers within, and you’ll find a small door on the right side. Head inside to find a “Scuffed Young Man” sheltering with a wounded soldier. The young man is Victor. He will give you the key to Vitalis’ house, which is opposite the Forge in Jova.

How to solve the Vitalis house puzzle?

When you first enter the house, explore the main floor. You’ll find a glowing yellow item on the table outside, which is a set of car keys with the number 32 on a keyring. Take them and continue exploring. Look for a locked chest with a strange keyhole, and use Remi’s Heirloom Necklace to open it. You’ll find a note inside and the picture of a woman playing with a toddler.

Exploring the bedrooms will yield two more photos, one of a man and a pregnant woman, and one of the same toddler sitting in a mud-covered toy car. Two of the pictures show numbers: the toddler is holding a car with the number 17 on the side, and the man and woman are standing in front of a car emblazoned with the number 32.

Now head down into the basement and you’ll find three empty spaces on the wall, beside a door locked by a numeric keypad. Placing the pictures corresponding to their shapes will reveal part of the code: 32-17, but the third picture has no number. It has no number because the kid’s car is covered in mud.

Head back upstairs and you’ll find the exact toy car in the corridor, now clean and sporting the number 13. Now you have your code. Go back to the keypad and use the code 32-17-13 to open the door. Inside is a number of useful items, including notes on opening Lymbic Chests, and a Lymbic Greatsword.

Head back outside and Victor will be waiting in his Forge right across the street.

What can the blacksmith do?

Victor can not only upgrade your weapons and defensive gear, but also learn from special Lymbic manuals you find to increase the services he offers.

These services include breaking down crafting materials to make consumable items that recharge your Lymbic energy or defend you against different emotional attacks, or combining these materials to make more powerful versions. You’ll need manuals to increase the maximum level for your weapons and gear.
