HOTEL BARCELONA released today on PC and consoles

Such a lovely place.
Hotel Barcelona

Swery and SUDA 51 have teamed up to make a new roguelite called HOTEL BARCELONA, and it’s out today on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

It’s got exactly as much mad stuff in it as you’d hope, and expect, and maybe some more on top of that. Check out the newest trailer from Tokyo Game Show, below, featuring both legendary developers:

Hidetaka “SWERY” Suehiro, game director said: “When I first announced HOTEL BARCELONA in 2019, it may have sounded like a joke. But jokes can take on a life of their own. After six years – working with my companions at White Owls Inc and inspired by Goichi Suda’s outrageous concept – what remains is the scent of blood, a crooked laugh, and a beautiful nightmare.”

SWERY added: “I feel this is not a game I wanted to make, but one I had to make. It is the chemical reaction of two mad geniuses colliding. I hope you enjoy the result.”

In our review, we scored the game 8/10, with Lyle saying: “Hotel Barcelona is a gloriously bloody game, and all those splashes aren’t just for show. Doctor Carnival is made stronger by drenching himself in the red stuff, and because he’s a part of you that means you’ll be buffed by blood too. Your blood meter drains very quickly, which means there’s a real sense of urgency as you rush to fill it by slicing through enemies as fast as possible. Filling the meter will let you unleash the doctor for a super attack, so hacking off as many limbs as possible is incredibly worthwhile.

Hotel Barcelona is a grizzly Roguelike unlike anything else the genre has to offer, with creative ideas, ghastly characters and a whole lot of blood. The combat’s pace might take a bit of getting used to, but once you do you’ll not want to put the game down until all the serial killers have been stopped.”

Hotel Barcelona lands on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S today, September 26th, 2025.
