The Blood of Dawnwalker is a huge, sprawling game with hundreds of quests, activities and things to do. Time management is core to the experience though: Coen only has 30 days and nights to save his family so you, the player, need to make peace with the fact you can’t see everything in one playthrough.
This takes a bit of adjusting to, especially if you’re a completionist, but for those who want to see credits at the earliest opportunity there’s an ending for you. Whether or not it’s a satisfying conclusion to Coen’s story is another matter…
Bear in mind that we’re going to be discussing some minor spoilers here so you’ve been warned!
Similar to Far Cry 4, 5 and 6, there’s a relatively early-game ending which sees Coen simply leave Vale Sangora before credits roll. If you want to see this for yourself and bag a trophy (or 2 if it’s your first time finishing the game), read on:
Where is the early ending?
Once you’ve completed the prologue and you’re out in the big wide world, make your way over to the area marked below:

I recommend you come here at night as you’ll see from the zoomed in map below that there’s a broken bridge you’ll need to teleport across, which I’ve helpfully marked in blue.

How do you unlock Durandel, a powerful early-game sword?
Before we get to the early ending, take a beat at that broken bridge. Loot the corpse and you’ll find they were transporting a legendary sword through the area before the bridge collapsed. This will trigger an investigation in the area, after which you’ll deduce that the sword must be at the bottom of the chasm.
As vampire Coen you’ll need to Clawride your way down, where you’ll be greeted by a handful of wolves and a more powerful phantom enemy. Kill those and look around in the chasm and you’ll find Durandel, a powerful sword that I used for several hours before finding better options. Its Weapon Art is a tasty little combo that you’ll use in every fight, so it’s well worth equipping.

How do you leave Vale Sangora and get the early ending?
Climb back up to the top of the chasm and teleport over to the other side. Follow the road up until you get to a large, unguarded gate. Make sure you save here!
Coen will comment how strange it is to see an exit from Vale Sangora that’s unguarded, and walking towards it gives you the option to abandon your responsibilities, leave the Vale and end the game.
Doing so nets you an achievement for unlocking this ending, plus another for seeing credits for the first time. Watch or skip the credits and you’ll also be treated to a post-credits cutscene which alludes to some exciting future developments for the series which was also hinted at in our The Blood of Dawnwalker interview recently.
So there you have it, one quick, early ending for The Blood of Dawnwalker. Once you’ve seen it then you can reload and enjoy the wide world of Vale Sangora on your quest to save your family.
