As you can see from the image headlining this very post, EA has announced that the cover star for the Ultimate Edition of EA Sports FC 27 is France and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé.
Having had a successful World Cup with France (winning the golden boot, no less), Mbappe is (as EA Says): “One of the most recognisable names in world football”. The publisher adds: “Mbappe returns to front the franchise following another standout season at the highest level.” This is a return for the player, who last features four years ago on the cover.
Since joining Real Madrid in 2024, he has finished as LALIGA’s top scorer in each of his two seasons in Spain and claimed the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Golden Boot with 15 goals. He has also continued to shine on the international stage, becoming the World Cup’s all-time leading goalscorer and becoming the first player to win the Golden Boot twice.”
There’s going to be a week of EA Sports FC 27 announcements coming, but the big gameplay trailer premiere is coming on Thursday 23rd July at 5pm UK time.

Recently, commentator Derek Rae confirmed on TikTok that he was recording new commentary from his home studio for the game.
EA Sports FC 27 will be launching for PC and consoles in September 2026.
