Konami has announced another update for eFootball, continuing on with the 30th anniversary celebrations of the series’ past.

One of the biggest things to this new update and season of eFootball is that newcomers can get a free Show Time Lionel Messi card for just finishing the in-game tutorial. The publisher has actually put out a lengthy (twenty minute long) video for the version 5.0.0 season update, which you can check out below, if you’d prefer to watch in full. For everyone else, we’ve got summary details underneath.

First though, the video:

Onto the in-game rewards, then. As you’d expect you can still earn eFootball coins (for signing players) as well as training items (for levelling players up), and all of this is part of the Campaign Hub, along with Campaign Achievements, and Special Login Bonuses.

You can grab managers from the modern game now via the Link-Up Play section, including Manchester United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim.

The legendary manager who led Inter Milan to a treble in the 2009-2010 season, José Mourinho, is now available! He possesses the link-up skill “Diagonal Long Pass A.”

In addition to the Edition/Set, “Epic & Show Time: Diagonal Long Pass A” will be available starting Friday, August 15, featuring Wesley Sneijder and Samuel Eto’o as Epic players who meet the conditions for triggering Jose Mourinho’s “Link-Up Play” move.

There are new stadium customisations as part of the 5.0.0 update, including “stadium colours, fan choreography, and decorative objects to create a unique, personalized design that reflects their style”, says Konami.

Interestingly the publisher says that there’s a “host of gameplay improvements” for this update. Apparently the movement and player speed will be more realistic, and there are also enhanced defensive controls. There’s a focus on mobile as well, with new set-piece controls and a “new kick cancellation feature”.

The Ambassador Editions/Packs featuring Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal, ambassadors for eFootball, is now available!

In addition to powerful players and training items, each pack includes card designs selected by the players themselves and items needed to customize their stadiums.

eFootball is out now for PC, consoles, and mobile devices and is free to play.
