A new indie developer, Buffalo Buffalo, has announced Fresh Tracks, a game aiming to blend music-driven gameplay with roguelite skiing.
It’s the first game from the team, with other projects in development, and the studio is backed by the “Canada Media Fund and Creative BC”, saying it is “committed to delivering unique, impactful gaming experiences.”
“We are passionate about designing innovative and engaging games that challenge players in new ways,” said Patrick Owens, Experience Director at Buffalo Buffalo. “With Fresh Tracks, we’re combining the flow-state of rhythm games with the replayability of roguelites to create an immersive, high-energy experience that will keep players fully engaged and their heads bobbing all the way through.”

Taking place in a mythical Nordic setting, Fresh Tracks invites players to strap on their skis for a non-stop music-driven adventure. As the protagonist, Skaii, players begin their journey gliding through a beautiful snow-covered forest to the beat of an ethereal pop soundtrack, an Aurora shimmering overhead.
Soon, however, the path diverges, and players must fight, jump, and dodge increasing obstacles and menacing minions as they delve deeper into the darkness that has befallen the land of Norwyn. As Skaii conquers each new trail, players unlock new abilities, new divine companions, and 19+ tracks of irresistible original music.
Fresh Tracks is coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X in 2025.
