Into the Wind is getting a first public playtest

Fly away with me,

Publisher Three Friends and developer Bloom & Gloom has revealed a new gameplay trailer for cosy adventure game Into the Wind, and announced a public playtest.

First things first, you can apply for the playtest at this link (it’s the Steam store page), so now you have that, let’s get started. The playtest will be open “later this year”.

The new trailer then, is below. The publisher says: “Narrated by Bloom & Gloom Co-Founder and Game Director Robin Hjelte, the new gameplay preview follows a complete delivery from start to finish, showcasing the satisfying gameplay loop at the heart of Into the Wind. Players must carefully choose contracts and plan routes around changing weather, wayward air pirates, and challenging terrain before upgrading their sentient motorcycle-plane companion, Ermes, to unlock new opportunities and adventures. Alongside never-before-seen gameplay, the preview also reveals new character customisation options and offers an extended look at the game’s breathtaking Studio Ghibli-inspired world.”

Here’s some of the key features for the game:

  • Deliver parcels and take on contracts as you become the local courier in your uncle Umberto’s stead. Players will face changing weather, challenging terrain, and content with air pirates on their journeys around the archipelago.
  • Upgrade Ermes as you unlock new resources for each job completed. Customise your motorcycle-plane companion’s capabilities, allowing you to take on more challenging deliveries and adventures.
  • Experience vehicle inertia and immersion, where cargo has weight and fuel matters. Discover how factors like terrain, shortcuts, weather, and landings can all affect handling and how the roads and skies of Santa Rosa truly feel.
  • Explore Santa Rosa as you cruise around this Studio Ghibli-inspired world and meet the charming townspeople, enjoy glorious vistas and experience these Adriatic magical islands.
  • Help shape the future of Into the Wind by sharing your thoughts with Bloom & Gloom as the team continues refining the game ahead of Early Access, with further playtest updates available through the official Discord.

“We’re incredibly excited to finally see players take to the skies of Santa Rosa for themselves,” says Robin, co-founder and game director of Bloom & Gloom. “Our new gameplay preview gives players an in-depth look at the adventure, but now we can’t wait to get the game into their hands. We need players’ help to make Into the Wind the best it can be, and we’re looking forward to hearing their feedback as we continue towards Early Access.”

Into the Wind is currently in development for PC, with an Early Access release date yet to be announced.
