Mario Kart World update 1.1 is out, fixes some bugs

Hopefully the next patch adds the option to queue with friends.

Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart World 1.1 has been released for Nintendo Switch, and it’s basically a list of  fixes for some bugs you may have encountered.

Here’s the list of fixed issues, directly from the Nintendo announcement:

  • Fixed an issue where items were no longer able to be used.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes controls were inoperable when selecting a character and trying to start Free Roam from the “Free Roam” map.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes the game shut down when watching replay after a race.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes the game shut down after a race in “Online Play.”
  • Fixed an issue where rate fluctuations were sometimes displayed incorrectly in “Knockout Tour” and “Online Play.”
  • Fixed an issue where it was easy for a communication error to occur when trying to join Friends playing “VS Race” or “Battle” in “Online Play.”
  • Fixed an issue where you sometimes slipped through the wall before the finish line of “DK Spaceport.”
  • Fixed an issue where you sometimes couldn’t return to correct position after falling of the course between “Airship Fortress” and “Bowser’s Castle” while gliding.

Just in case you have never downloaded a patch before, Nintendo also details how to update your game:

  • Connect your Nintendo Switch 2 console to the internet.
  • How to connect a Nintendo Switch 2 to a wireless home network
  • From the HOME Menu, select the icon for the software you wish to update without starting the game or application.
  • Press the + Button or – Button on your controller. The current version number will display under the software title.
  • Select Software Update followed by Over the Internet.

Sadly the first update doesn’t tweak any of the things that are upsetting fans the most, like the option to start a party with friends then queue against other people online. And as far as we know, it seems you still can’t capture screenshots or videos when using Game Chat, but it’s still early days, so fingers crossed for those changes in the next, or another update. It’s also a pain to race against the ghosts of your friends, so making that easier would be nice, too.

Mario Kart World is out now for Nintendo Switch 2.
