New game from the co-creator of Sable, In the Drift, announced

A heartfelt game about human connection

Daniel Fineberg, co-creator of indie hit Sable, has announced his newest game today at the Wholesome Games Showcase; dreamy narrative platformer In the Drift.

Developed by Fineberg and a team of friends and collaborators with funding support from Phantom Friends, In the Drift will be coming to PC via Steam.

A game about fixing the internet in space. In the Drift is a dreamy narrative platformer where players travel across an asteroid belt to restore broken connections across a galaxy seemingly doomed to drift apart. Repair, explore, make friends with your crew, and find a place where you belong.

About the game

Welcome to The Belt, a scattered streak of asteroids in the dusty depths of space.

Play as Luna, a young engineer with a daunting responsibility: maintaining an internet connection for the people of the Belt as the Drift pulls ever harder on the place they call home. Drive across drifted asteroids in your truck, repairing rusted radio towers and other crumbling infrastructure in an attempt to keep people connected.

Return home to your ship after each job, exploring the space and connecting with the rest of your crew. Meet a colourful cast of characters and uncover a gently woven story about finding human connection in a slowly unravelling world.

Features:

  • A heartfelt narrative about human connection
  • Light puzzle-platforming elements
  • Strange, lonely landscapes to enjoy from your truck
  • Around 5 hours of gameplay
  • A feline first mate
  • Dreamy soundtrack by Laryssa Okada (Manifold Garden, Dorfromantik, Last Time I Saw You)

In the Drift is coming to PC via Steam.
