Great care has been taken to ensure the physical soundtrack releases of Finishing Move’s dark fantasy soundscape for DOOM: The Dark Ages are presented with design work and packaging that reflect DOOM’s Hellish landscapes. The 4LP box set is presented in a dual rigid board outer slipcase, with DOOM’s iconic Slayer symbol debossed onto its inner slipcase. All vinyl packaging has been designed by id Software, featuring artwork by the id Software concept art team as well as Grzegorz Domaradzki.

Finishing Move say: “There was a real weight of expectation stepping into such an iconic franchise. But rather than get overwhelmed by it, we focused on what felt right. What we, along with the incredibly creative team at id, believed this game needed. We approached it with the same spirit of innovation that defines DOOM, aiming to honour its legacy while forging a new identity.

“While the music is dark and intense, it’s also empowering. It fuels the player’s adrenaline and drives them forward. We leaned into steadier, more deliberate grooves, like an army marching with unstoppable force. There’s a specific tone of horror and tension. It’s the sound of dread rolling in, like a plague is coming. But this time, you’re the one bringing it. And there’s a swagger to the riffs, too. You’ve come to destroy the armies of Hell, and you’re going to enjoy every second of it.”

The music is a sonic reflection of the game’s “Stand And Fight” combat philosophy, its unique Medieval setting, and the raw energy of the classic DOOM experience. Elements of thrash metal, modern deathcore, early doom metal and Swedish black metal bleed into brutal guitar breakdowns and downtempo grooves, while traditional folk instruments such as the Nordic bass tagelharpa, balalaika and massive animal hide drums are combined with modern synths for a dark and gritty sound that feels raw, primal, and unmistakably DOOM.

Doom: The Dark Ages is out now for  PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC.
