Thunderful Publishing has announced the Studio Fizbin-developed “medievalpunk” action roguelike, Reignbreaker, is coming to PC on March 18th, but you can try it now.
The reason being: Steam Next Fext. Like so many games, developer Studio Fizbin is getting in on the demo goodness, with its first ever public demo being available from today (February 18th) until March 3rd, and even better: you’ll get a special in-game statue when the title is released.
The studio says that Reignbreaker is made “in response to the rise of right wing politics, authoritarianism and fascism around the world”, adding that it “gives players an opportunity to wreak havoc on a dystopian kingdom as Clef, a child soldier turned anarchist rebel.” It’s also “been funded with the help of the federal ministry of economic affairs and climate action Germany”, which shows how good people are supporting the game.
From deep within the gothic sprawl of the Queen’s domain, Clef smashes through legions of hostile high-tech medieval machines to breach the inner sanctums of the Bastion, a giant fortress where the unimaginable riches of the elite are stored. Players must plunder the coffers of the Bastion, smash the kingdom and become The Reignbreaker.
Reignbreaker presents players with a unique hand-drawn dungeoneering experience with stylish inspirations from punk, anime and pop culture. The medievalpunk roguelike features brutal and fast-paced combat with several unlockable variations of motorized Javelins, Clef’s weapon of choice. Equal parts weapon and lockpick, the Javelin is a deadly tool used to fight machines, open doors and override traps. With a strong female protagonist, eccentric characters and a seductive story about uprising and rebellion, Reignbreaker delivers an unforgettable power fantasy about smashing an oppressive system and returning power to the people.
Reignbreaker is coming to PC on March 18th. The demo is available now.
