There were so many years where the Silent Hill series was gone, and the world was a much less scary place. Well now Silent Hill is back in full force, with a well received remake of Silent Hill 2 last year and a whole new entry in the series this year.
In an ocean of indie horror games I love that we can still get bigger budget horror experiences too, and this one looks great. Last night as part of the PlayStation State of Play, it was announced that Silent Hill f is launching on September 25th.
SILENT HILL f is a bold new instalment in the iconic horror franchise, set in 1960s Japan. Blending traditional SILENT HILL psychological horror with Japanese folklore, the game introduces a completely original story crafted by acclaimed writer Ryukishi07 (Higurashi, Umineko), brought to life with creature designs by renowned illustrator kera. Players follow high school student Shimizu Hinako through the eerie, fog-covered town of Ebisugaoka, where disturbing transformations and haunting memories unfold.
With music composed by legendary SILENT HILL veteran Akira Yamaoka and celebrated game composer Kensuke Inage, SILENT HILL f delivers a unique soundscape that contrasts its dual worlds of fog and madness. Under the leadership of producer Motoi Okamoto (SILENT HILL 2 Remake), the game marks a fresh and emotionally gripping chapter for the series—one that challenges perceptions of beauty, fear, and the human psyche.
The new trailer shown last night featured some seriously spooky moments, and particularly sinister monster designs. Silent Hill f and its Japanese folklore influences appeal to me massively, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for our return to that cursed place in September. The game will be releasing on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and on PC via Steam and Epic storefronts. I’m so excited for an all new Silent Hill game, and hopefully it’ll scare the pants off me.
Silent Hill f will be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC (Epic Games Store, Steam) on September 25th.
