Developer Tuxedo Labs has announced multiplayer is planned for Teardown later this year on Steam, adding it’s always been on the team’s minds.

The update will, at first anyway, be introducing by the experimental beta branch on Steam, allowing the community to “play with new designs and features while providing feedback to the development team”. Tuxedo labs adds: “New additions to Teardown’s API are also expected to roll out around this time, giving modders an opportunity to update existing mods with multiplayer functionality, as well as imagine completely new in-game creations.”

“Multiplayer has always been on our minds, and we’re thrilled that it’s coming into focus now,” said Tuxedo Labs CEO Marcus Dawson. “We’ve come a long way, and we’re working hard to get players in on the ground floor to tinker around and break stuff as soon as possible, but we want everyone to know: it’s real, it’s coming, and it’s going to be a blast.”

The team adds: “Teardown will initially introduce multiplayer via the Experimental Branch on Steam, inviting the community to play with new designs and features while providing feedback to the development team. New additions to Teardown’s API are also expected to roll out around this time, giving modders an opportunity to update existing mods with multiplayer functionality, as well as imagine completely new in-game creations.”
