Following on from a partnership to fix Surface devices.

Microsoft have announced a team-up with UK and Ireland brand Currys, whereby you can get your Xbox consoles repaired at the electronics retailer, including the newest Xbox Series S and X consoles. The service will be available from today, as well.

This isn’t the first time Microsoft has teamed up with Currys, either, although this marks the first ever “Xbox Authorised Service Provider (ASP)” in the UK and Ireland. The partnership previously offered repairs services for Surface devices, meaning you could get your laptops repaired at Currys as well.

Lindsay Haselhurst, Currys Chief Operating Officer said “We are so proud to see our repair partnership with Microsoft flourish. It’s collaborations like this that help us to help more customers enjoy their tech for longer.

This is good news for players, opening up a huge network to get their tech fixed; it’s good news for Currys, helping to change the consumer relationship with tech for the better; and it’s good news for the planet, and the battle to combat the UK’s e-waste crisis.”

Consumers will benefit from Currys’ tech expertise, regardless of where their Xbox console was purchased. Whether it’s through visiting one of Currys’ stores, filled with expert colleagues, or getting their console booked in to be repaired at Europe’s largest tech repair centre in Newark – this includes consoles both in warranty and out of warranty.

Currys is committed to tackling electronic waste, which is one of the world’s fastest-growing waste streams, and these repair services play a vital role in this effort.

The modern Xbox Series X and Series S consoles seem far less prone to breaking down than what we’ve had in previous generations of console hardware, but given the shrinkage of high-street retailers in general, it’s no bad thing to be able to pop to your local Currys to get you beloved Xbox repaired, it seems.

Speaking back in 2024 about the deal with Currys for Surface repairs, John Crouch, Surface Category Lead at Microsoft UK, said: “At Microsoft, we are constantly striving to provide our customers with more options and flexibility in how they use our products and services. By collaborating with Currys to offer a new UK pathway for Surface support, we believe we can better help our customers achieve their goals through technology.”
