Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is making a serious play to be “the” kart-racer of the moment, and a new pack has been released adding Minecraft goodies.
The pack is downloadable at no extra cost if you own the Digital Deluxe Edition (the one that comes with, for example, both PS4 and PS5 versions of the game), and adds playable characters, vehicles, decals, a new course, music, and more. Sega really does seem committed to making Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds a pretty huge game, with crossovers for other Sega/Atlus owned titles like Yakuza/Like a Dragon and Persona announced, and even a Spongebob Squarepants set as part of the game. Recently a Mega Man crossover was also announced.
If, however, you don’t own the Digital Deluxe Edition, this specific Minecraft pack will cost you £4.99, though the season pass is available separately for £24.99 as well. That said, whether you own these characters and packs or not, playing online you’ll see them on the track, and in fact you can compete against people on the Minecraft World course.
Here’s the full list of included items in the Minecraft pack for Sonic Racing: Crossworlds:
- Steve, Alex, and a creeper as playable characters
- Minecart Vehicle
- Six decals for the Minecart Vehicle
- Minecraft World Course
- Five original Minecraft Music Tracks
- New remixes of original Minecraft Music Tracks
- Six different emotes per character
In our 9.5/10 scoring review, Lyle said: “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds isn’t just the best racing game I’ve played all year, it’s the best racing game I’ve played in ages. The racing is frantic and fun, the variety of characters and weapons is impressive, and the amount of content is simply wild. If you go into this kart racer expecting it to struggle against its peers then you’re in for a shock, because Sonic and company are now in a league of their own.”
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is out today (September 25th) on PlayStation, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2.
