Over the weekend Creative Assembly and Sega released a trailer on the Alien: Isolation YouTube Channel and via social media, suggesting a sequel is coming.
Spotted on Reddit, the trailer first hit social media and was then released on YouTube as well. It does seem strange to announce this over the weekend, so maybe more is coming soon. Anyway, here’s the trailer:
While there’s no actual confirmation of the game, the video titled “False Sense of Security” has a description that simply says; “A feeling of being safer than one really is.” The last post on the YouTube channel was a 10th anniversary trailer over a year ago.
It’s been twelve years since the original game launched and it was massively popular. It has been known a sequel was in the works for a while, and the original game is considered canon now, linking into the timeline of Prometheus.
It’ll be interesting to see if the original game gets a port to consoles like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, or even Switch 2, since the game did come to the first Nintendo Switch. With the TV show on Disney Plus and recent games like Alien: Rogue Incursion, the franchise has almost never been so popular, so fingers crossed this is another great horror game from Creative Assembly.
Our Alien: Rogue Incursion review is available here, if you need an Alien-game fix, with Mick saying: “Alien: Rogue Incursion nails the atmosphere, spectacle, and sense of place, but struggles to maintain a threat level above mild annoyance. A lack of variety becomes less of an issue with the shorter runtime, but this all combines to create a fairly bare-bones experience kept alive by the setting and protagonist rather than the threat of the perfect organism you’re trying to evade. Most often it devolves into a straightforward corridor shooter with few twists or scares. Big fans of the franchise will have a ball with the world itself, and it certainly doesn’t waste your time with filler, but it never quite manages to replace what it loses due to the change of perspective.”
