Lake Cynon is an important area in Hell is Us, hiding the entrance to the Lymbic Forge, an essential element for completion of the critical path and advancement of the story.
But because this is an adventure game, you can’t just walk up the door and unlock it. Instead, you’ll need to expose the entrance by draining a body of water beside the lake itself. But how do you do that? Read on, and we’ll explain all in our Lake Cynon Guide.
Hell is Us: Lake Cynon first steps
First of all, you’ll note a few points of interest when you first enter the idyllic Lake Cynon area. There’s a small boat house on the lake, and a picturesque cottage. If you head down to the shore and take the path off to the right, you’ll also find a Vault of Knowledge which requires a special passcode to open. None of these elements are of any use to you at this point in the story, although you’ll want to return here at various future points.
For now, focus on the man-made pond in the centre of the area. You’llo notice a number of Lymbic Pillars which glow when you strike them. In front of the pond is an obelisk with five rings on it, the bottom one of which holds the symbol of a chalice. Note that there are arrow-like marks pointing downwards.
The solution is in front of you
In order to solve this puzzle, you’ll need to find all the other obelisks and note the symbols they hold and the position they’re in. Some are easy to find, but others have been knocked down and can’t be seen from the ground level. You’ll need to be thorough, climbing the steps behind the pond to see things from above, finding the crumbled and destroyed obelisks.
You must determine which symbols go where, and then strike the Lymbic Pillars corresponding to each symbol in the right order. Once you have the solution, you will need to strike the pillars in the following order:
- Crown
- Teardrop
- Key
- Star
- Chalice
When this happens a wheel will emerge at the edge of the pond and a circular opening will appear in the wall behind you. Take the handle from within, use it on the wheel, and you will drain the water from the pond, revealing the entrance to the Lymbic Forge.
And now you know how to complete this area thanks to our Hell is Us Lake Cynon Guide.
