Nintendo Switch 2 video preview: hardware, games, and thoughts

What we saw, what we thought, and what you asked us.
Nintendo Switch 2 video preview

After around four hours of hands-on preview time with the Nintendo Switch 2, we got together to discuss what we though, and answer your questions.

We start off talking about general impressions in this hour long special preview, before getting into chats about Mario Kart World, Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Pack, Donkey Kong Bananza, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and much more. In the video we show you plenty of footage of us playing the games as well, before getting onto a discussion about the Switch 2 Editions of older games, and we even had a chance to play some of the GameCube titles.

If you prefer this sort of thing as a podcast, make sure you support us via Patreon, where our backers had early access to the audio-only version, so they could go about their business while listening to us praise the new hotness. As a supporter, you’ll get exclusive bonus podcasts, early access, behind the scenes photos, and access to our discord, full of fun channels to chat about, including our game of the month book club style section. It’s a lot of fun, so why not get involved?

Read our full written preview (and we’ve more to come), here, where we said: “The hardware, then, feels premium. It’s an odd thing to say, but the lack of an OLED screen just isn’t felt here. It feels like the Nintendo wizards have finally got their head around so many modern features that were missing from the original models of Switch, such as HDR. I’ve long lamented the fact people focus so much on resolution, when in fact, excellent use of HDR combined with a high frame rate will make a game look wonderful. The handheld screen looks stunning when playing the likes of the older Zelda titles, or Mario Kart World.”

Nintendo Switch 2 is coming on June 5th.
