Shortly after Evie arrives at Harry’s (rather fancy) mansion home in Call of the Elder Gods, she’ll happen upon a slightly odd bookshelf in his office full of books with Latin names. If you’re struggling to solve the puzzle then we’ve got the details with our handy guide for you.
Before you can even start this puzzle, you’ll notice there’s a book missing. Finding this takes you out into the mansion’s grounds on a short quest that involves its own puzzle. Check out our guide to finding the missing book from Harry’s office for the full step-by-step process.
Once you’ve got that book, pop it on the shelf and you’re ready to solve the puzzle. First you’ll need to look around the house and find four painting frames with Latin text on them as well as two ripped canvases. You’ll find them in the below locations:
- The first painting you find in the mausoleum as you find the missing book
- Head upstairs and to the left, through the doors and then left again.
- Back to the top of the stairs and go right this time. There’s a frame with a ripped frame on your left as you walk in.
- Go back downstairs into the library and head to the back left corner to find the last painting.
You’ll also need those two ripped canvases I mentioned. These are both in the cupboard under the stairs.
With all this committed to your diary you’re ready to solve the book puzzle. Look at the age of Harry in each painting from youngest to oldest and that’ll give you the combination of words you’ll need to rearrange the books to match. The full solution is:
