Amazon has notified unlucky customers that the “request an invite” feature for Nintendo Switch 2 has finished, and that they should order as normal going forward.
In an email to customers who didn’t get the 22-hour invite, Amazon.co.uk has said:
Hello,
You had recently requested to buy the Nintendo Switch on amazon.co.uk.
Unfortunately, we were not able to accommodate your request.
Good news; Invitations are no longer required to buy the Switch 2 on amazon.co.uk and the console will be available to purchase without invitation soon.
If still interested in buying the console, we kindly ask you to visit amazon.co.uk and buy the Nintendo Switch 2 by putting it into your cart when available and proceed to checkout as usual.
Please note that it is possible that the console sells out quickly, so check our website regularly.
Thank you for choosing amazon.
The long and short of that, then, is that the initial batch the retailer has been informed of has been sold through, and as and when stock comes in, it’ll appear to buy on the store, with a first come first served situation in place.
So what’s next for fans who want the Switch 2?
Lots of retailers have already sold out of the console, with Argos, Shopto, and many others having stopped taking orders. Smyths seemingly had some new stock today, though it’s likely gone by now. The official Nintendo store is looking like the only hope for lots of people, but even then, it’s an invite only system (at least to begin with), as Nintendo is seemingly trying to stop scalping by sending offers out to people with a long-standing Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Nintendo Switch 2 launches on June 5th.
