At the end of last week, the team behind upcoming turn-based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 announced the title had gone gold.
What this means, basically, is that bar no horrendous issues, the game will be released on the April 24th planned date. The team at Sandfall said: “It has been nine months since we announced Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and now, we enter the final stretch before the game is in your hands. The monolith looms ever closer…”
Sandfall added: “We set out to craft the game of our dreams—a passion project built by a small team of RPG fanatics, artists, musicians, and friends. Now, with the build locked, that dream is real. Our focus is on polishing every detail before we hand it over to you.
There has been so much to celebrate on this journey already, but the biggest moments are yet to come. We can’t wait to see you experience our story, our characters, our music, and our gameplay for the first time. And we can’t wait to share those moments with you.”
Interestingly, the game is referred to on the blog as “Expedition 33” without it’s full name, and I’ve been making a portmanteau of the title and saying “Clair 33”, but now we know it’s shorthand name is just Expedition 33.
We also recently got a new character trailer focussing on Maelle (voiced by Jennifer English), who is “the youngest member of the Expedition”.
Meet Maelle (voiced by Jennifer English), the youngest member of the Expedition. A shy loner, eager to fly. Orphaned at age 3, Maelle has never felt at home in Lumière. She has difficulty connecting with and trusting others, but has come to appreciate her foster brother Gustave.At 16 years of age, Maelle is significantly younger than her fellow Expeditioners. Unlike them, she views the Expedition as her chance to explore the world beyond Lumière and finally forge her own destiny.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is coming to PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5 on April 24th.
