How to increase Lumina capacity in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

More skills.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

One of the most interesting mechanics in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the Pictos system, allowing you to buff your characters, but how do you increase the Lumina capacity?

The Pictos system allows you to basically add lots of skills to each character via equipping the Pictos and learning them as Lumina, so everyone else can use them. While the items themselves will always offer buffs to health, defence, speed, and more, you will soon find more and more of them you want to equip at once. Luckily there’s a system for this, and you can soon have your characters using multiple buffs at once.

It’s not too complicated but it does use a lot of new terms to explain things simply.

First you use a Pictos to learn a Lumina skill (four battles usually learns it). Then you can remove that Pictos and equip another, and add the skill from it as a Lumina to that section of your character.

How to increase Lumina capacity?

Basically, to have a massive capacity of Lumina (the thing you’ll need to increase in order to equip extra skills) you will need to go pixel hunting on each and every map.

Hidden in the levels you will find items called Colour of Lumina and these will allow you to increase a character’s Lumina slot by 1 each time.

Essentially, there are so many of these scattered around, you’ll need to go hunting and find them. Once you’ve done this, you can go to your camp on the overworld and visit the curator. Here you can upgrade your potions, but crucially, your Lumina which allows you to use more of these passive skills at once.

We recommend you use things like auto-regen, or the skills that get you health when attacking, but there are also multiple versions of one that will get you starting with extra AP (action points) so you can unleash the more devastating attacks in your arsenal sooner. There are also superb defensive Pictos/Lumina like the ability to recover from death once per battle, or even add shell to your party when you do die. But definitely aim for health and extra AP.

And there you have it. That’s how you increase your Lumina capacity in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
