For those just starting out with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you might be wondering how to upgrade your weapons so they can do more damage.
Even early doors, you’ll see that the weapons each character can equip can clearly be upgrade to level 20, as there are bonuses for level 5, 10, and 20. But it’s not clear how to do that for quite some time.
The truth is, there’s not “fast” way to do this. You will unlock the ability to upgrade your weapons as part of the story, and here’s how. There are early game spoilers ahead, but nothing past the early to mid stage of Act 1. But nonetheless, be warned.
How to upgrade weapons
After the first few “levels” of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 you will find yourself approaching a strange door to a house. It’s during the underwater (but not actually underwater) level of the game.
Maelle will go missing, and you will find her at this house. Within the house she’s been training and conversing with someone called “the curator”. This mysterious figure will offer to upgrade your weapons for you.
Essentially, the curator will follow you on your journey, and you can “rest at camp” from the overworld map (down on the D-Pad) and find the mysterious guest waiting in a dark cave just away from the main campfire.
In here he can upgrade your weapons, and enhance your potions as well.
