Developer Brain Seal has announced a demo for Dark Quest 4, the next instalment in the dungeon crawler series offering strategy, quests, and atmosphere.
The full game is set for launch later this year on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch, and the developer says: “Inspired by legendary board games like Hero Quest and Dungeon Saga, Dark Quest 4 is a turn-based RPG where players create a party of heroes and take on handcrafted dungeon adventures narrated by a fully voiced dungeon master.”
The demo will offer around half an hour of play, but gives a first look at the systems, the world, and how it all feels together. You start off in the hero camp, and you “can manage and upgrade your party before heading into danger.” Here’s some key features from the demo:
- Two shops to gear up with weapons and magical items
- A quest giver offering three unique missions to test your strategy and wits
- A full tutorial to guide new players through the core mechanics of movement, combat, and progression
We wanted the demo to give players a real feel for the heart of the game. The choices, the characters, and the sense of mystery that grows with each quest,” said Argi Baltzi, Game Director of Dark Quest 4. “It’s a world shaped by imagination, but rooted in tactics and this demo is just the beginning.”
Here’s the key features for the full game, coming later this year:
- Multiplayer for Up to 3 Players – Team up with friends and tackle dungeons together.
- Turn-Based Tactical Combat – Carefully position your heroes and plan your moves in grid-based battles.
- Level Editor & Steam Workshop Integration – Create your own quests and campaigns, or explore adventures made by the community.
- Animated Figurines & Tabletop Aesthetics – A visual style that feels like your favorite board game comes to life.
- Voiced Dungeon Master – The evil sorcerer acts as narrator and guide, adding personality and atmosphere to every session.
Dark Quest 4 is coming to PlayStation, Xbox Series S|X, Nintendo Switch, and PC later this year.
