Developer Fallen Tree Games and publisher Kwalee has announced an update for The Precinct is coming this week, adding a new mode and some new style options.
As you’d expect and hope, the update will be free and is coming to all formats (PC and consoles). The team says: “The latest update for The Precinct introduces two exciting new features: Solo Mode and vehicle and character customisation”, and here’s the details on both.
Introducing Solo Mode
Your partner’s on a break – it’s just you, your patrol car, and a city full of crime. For the first time, players can take on Averno’s criminal underworld solo, without backup.
Cop Cars and Custom Fits
All six squad cars now feature five slick new livery options. Roll out in a design that matches your precinct’s vibe – or flex your individuality with a custom look just for your ride. In addition, Officer Nick Cordell Jr. gets a stylish upgrade with a range of customisation options. Players can now choose from 10 outfits, eight hats, and fourtypes of glasses to create a look that suits their own policing persona.
In our review of The Precinct, we said: “The Precinct isn’t perfect, but it is fun. I thought playing as an officer would limit the enjoyment, but there are plenty of crimes to solve. The UI and ease of choosing different options in the investigative phase is welcomed. The AI can be a little dumb, and there was the odd bug, but hopefully these can get patched. In terms of the process of exploring the streets, uncovering more of the story, and living the life of a cop, it’s definitely a game that does most of what it wants to do pretty well.”
The Precinct is out now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.
